A feature of St Mary’s Catholic School is the involvement we have with the local community including the social and academic opportunities throughout the year to participate in combined activities with other local schools.
St Mary’s Catholic School is a member of the local 'Combined Otorohanga Primary Schools’ group (COPS) and takes an active part in most interschool activities.
The local town pool is used for daily swimming lessons in Term One and Four and the heated pool is made available from time to time for extra tuition.
We encourage our students to combine with other local schools to participate in weekend team sports, and other events.
St Mary’s is within easy walking distance to town. Students regularly visit the town library, and also have a relationship with local businesses.
We have a long-established relationship with the staff and residents of Beattie Home, whom they visit on a regular basis.
We value the interactions between Otorohanga College and neighbouring pre-school centres and Kindergarten. We are often visited by schools from various parts of New Zealand, as part of their field trip to visit the Kiwi House nearby.
