As a teaching team, we are very aware that relationships with our children and community are very important. If a child is to be successful they first need to know they are liked and cared for within our learning community. Our teachers are dedicated to building and maintaining relationships, as we have our students within shared spaces for their time at St Mary's. We are very blessed to have the opportunity to work with such amazing young people. They are the face, heart and hands of God and show us the way that our God wants us to be as teachers.
We are fortunate enough to have four teachers working within our school who are all passionate about the learning opportunities for all of our students. Both teachers who work within the Years 1 - 3 end of the school are Reading Recovery trained, this gives them a wonderful skill set to be able to help junior and developing readers and writers.
Staff have been involved in the implementation of the Learning Through Play and Skills-Based Learning Through Play philosophies within the Year 1 to 4 learning spaces. Our students are flourishing within this learning philosophy which brings joy and excitement as we move forward in our learning journey together.
The senior space gives all students an opportunity to pursue their passions. At times this means there are multiple topics of work going on, but the framework is similar. This framework allows our learners to become more independent and have a greater appreciation of how to learn. Understanding your drivers as a learner allows the learner to go further in his/her learning journey.
